The Fifth Element
The Club or Rome
Animation
An animation project for The Club of Rome, a global think tank focused on systems change, climate, and long-term sustainability.
To sit within their current brand styles, I developed a collage-based animation to tell the story of their Fifth Element programme—an initiative exploring how human values, inner transformation, and systemic change must work together to address the polycrisis.
The process began with storyboarding and creating working samples of key scenes. I built the collages into 3D environments so the camera could move seamlessly through layered space, helping to guide the narrative flow. Music and sound effects were added to enrich the atmosphere, and lighting was used to introduce depth and shadow.
Even though the entire piece was digitally produced, I was keen to retain a tactile, human quality in the animation’s movement and texture.
The client was really happy with the results, praising how clearly and emotively the film communicated a complex and often abstract story.
